The Maker Behind The Wild

This is a small, female-owned business born from grit, passion, and a downright stubborn will to keep creating. My wild hat ride was sparked by my love for creating unique, handmade pieces after a horrific accident made pull back the reins just to survive.

Let’s first get one thing straight - I’m no stranger to hard work or the wild life. I’ve spent years ranching, training horses, and country dancing ‘til my boots gave out. But life took a hard left the day I went cliff-jumping and hit shallow water. The impact shattered both of my heels. My right foot didn’t just explode into pieces, there was a compound fracture and dislocated ankle to top it off. What followed was a long, brutal year of surgeries and learning how to navigate life from a wheelchair. Then came learning how to walk again in two giant boots.

There were many complications along the way - infections that kept coming back and never went away - eventually working their way deep into the bone. Suddenly the path I thought I was fighting my way back to wasn’t an option anymore. After multiple second opinions, the truth was unavoidable: my only real option was to amputate. Now, for some people, that might feel like the end of the world, but I’ve been through far worse in my life than losing a limb. This was just another obstacle that I'd have to overcome while relying heavily on God, family, and friends.

After my surgery - one leg down and a whole new life ahead of me - I was forced to slow way down whether I wanted to or not. Healing wasn’t going to be gentle or quick, so during this long haul, I needed something to keep me sharp. And this was when I found custom hat-shaping. Training under Hat Masters, I quickly realized I love making one-of-a-kind hats for wild souls like me.

I’m happy to be back out there riding and kickin’ up dirt - just now with a dang good lookin’ hat on and some extra hardware, of course!

The reason behind the “Leave Me Wild Hats” name is simple - I learned the hard way that nothing and no one gets to hold me back ever again. If you’ve got that same fire in you, that need to be left wild, then this might just be the brand for you to rock right beside me!

I really appreciate ya’ll stopping by - it means more than you know, as prosthetics sure ain’t cheap! Ultimately, I hope you find a hat that speaks to your wild.
